316 Stainless Steel is an austenetic grade which has excellent ductility, toughness and corrosion resistance with good strength. With the presence of molybdenum this gives 316 better overall corrosion resistant properties than grade 304. 316 Stainless Steel has an advantage over 304 in chemical, petrochemical, food and marine applications which is ideal for gaskets, shims, bursting discs, expansion joints etc. 316 Stainless Steel can also be used in some spring applications.
316 Stainless Steel is cold rolled to a half hard temper 320-360VPN. Supplied in a range of sizes from .025mm (.001″) – .508mm (.020″) in a variety of ways from packets to continuous metres to suit your requirements.
